Fanari is located at the coasts of the Rodopi Regions. It is a small village by the sea next to the famous beach of the area, Arogi beach. The plage is organised with sunbeds and umbrellas, beach bars and canteens. Some kilometres further away are Mesis beach, Glifada beach and Molivoti beach. Many activities are offered like water sports and fishing.
The area is protected by the Natura treaty due to the particular fauna and flora as well as the biodiversity of the lakes and lagoons.
The closest city centres are Xanthi, with the old town and Komotini, with eastern vibes.
The most spectacular sight of the area is Saint Nicolas, a church built on the lake.
